A cold dose of reality…
So the birthday highs have faded and we are suffering through the coldest winter I think Tammy has ever experienced. -40 as a maximum means you stay indoors, even thinking about going inside can result in a slap across the face…I was the recipient of one today. Thanks Tammy!
News from our neighbors to the east is that the GNWT apparently needs to cut their budget down $135 million in the next two years to be sustainable for the future. I hope and pray that my many YK friends will not lose their jobs due to this. I think wherever you live news like this would be devastatingly nerve wracking. Hopefully they will make their cuts quick so families don’t have to live day to day with that lingering on their backs.
Speaking of jobs, I am now officially down to one… My day job and I were not seeing eye to eye (to say it politely) so I had to break up with her . No biggie as it was a job I chose to work simply out of personal interest. I must say Tammy is happy, the past few days we have spent more time together than we had in a whole month. It has been hard for me to slow down to one job, getting more time to hang out with your bestest friend for a girl is a pretty damn good reward. So I am not complaining.
thats about it, when it is this cold things stop…hence I have no other news for you guys.
keep warm

I would certainly be nice to see the federal government give a little more than the table scraps they’ve giving the NWT from the billions they’re raking in from resource development royalties in the territory…
Tammy wrote - Yay! I can finally have time with my Jonny…. Haha, not! He may be down to one job but he is picking up extra shifts at that one. I get to see him for around lets say 1 hour a day - maybe! So glad that you are only at job big guy! Heehee. Love you anyways and the time we do get to spend together.
I don’t understand why they are still planning on building a 200 million dollar bridge across the river if things are that bad. Wouldn’t it make more sense to not have a bridge (which we’ve been doing fine without forever) than have to lay people off???? Seems like common sense to me. Not to mention all the crap that’s going to come with having a bridge…don’t people realize that there will be a toll to cross the bridge (another great turn off for tourists - which we hardly get any of anymore already!!!) and there goes northern living allowance as we’ll be able to get out all year!!! CRAZY i say CRAZY!
