Does playing a Nintendo Wii lying down not go against the whole Wii philosophy?
I say, working nights you see some strange things.

I can handle farts…I mean it is a natural occurrence, everyone does it. If it stinks, leave the area and wait for it to move on or just hold your breath…no big deal. As the individual passing the gas, be respectful; you know you stink get up and do it else where, if they are not pungent …let er rip.
However I had never experienced something as gross as what happened to me this morning let me tell you…..
I hit the CGC every morning after work to get my workout in, usually the place is pretty dead, however this time around the “wellness center” was quite full.
I do my thing with the weights, etc…Then jump on the treadmill for a half hour of what only can be described as mayhem. (ever see a 300lb dude run at 8.0 for 20 minutes you would call it mayhem too.)
Anyways,
All but one of the treadmills were full so I got up and started my routine, tight quarters but no biggie. People started finishing and dying off and by 20 minutes in it was just me and this other dude directly beside me left. I was getting pretty tired and almost contemplating ending my run early, but stubbornness (and a good tune on my ipod) allowed me to keep on keeping on.
Then all of a sudden it came…it wasn’t so bad at first, but then like a wall of stink it hit me. I kept running but had to look around to see if it was a walk by farting or if the guy next to me really had the audacity to pass one off when he knew damn well I had no where to go.
It was just me and him, no one else around and I knew I didn’t let ‘er out, I gave a quick glance in his direction and he wouldn’t make eye contact. He just kept looking straight ahead…fully aware that he was busted and I wasn’t happy. I looked down at his treadmill just to make sure he didn’t drop his guts in the process and I might be required to call for first aid.
It hung around forever and there was no way I was getting off of the treadmill cause I knew I would not be able to get back on to finish my full 30 minutes or 3 miles (whatever came first). I tried to speed up, in what I can only reason to be an attempt to outrun the stench, I didn’t calculate the fact that I was on a treadmill and therefore in a stationary position. Wasn’t actually moving anywhere stupid!
Then I tried to breath out heavier to try and push the fumes away (air circulation is lacking at the CGC-no fans) but that only resulted in me taking in bigger breaths and inhaling the toxic nasty even more.
I almost vomited, actually I think I puked a little in my mouth.
Thank God the smell passed, I stepped it up ensuring I would be done my time before the guy could brew up another one, got off the treadmill and moved to the farthest corner possible and began working myself through the trauma. This pretty much consisted of me sitting down in the fetal position and rocking back and forth.
I tell you, I don’t wish this on anyone…ever. And from now on the treadmill fart will be on my top list of worst things that can ever be done to another human being.

Shift work, I must say sucks the biggun’ however when your days off land on the warmest weather we have seen to date I am not going to complain.
It has been absolutely awesome up here and makes me wonder what would cause someone to move away, but then I head back to work and realize quite quickly. hahah…nah just kidding its all good.
Looks like I will be heading to Edmonton solo at the end of March. If Tammy gets to go down at all she will be going straight to Medicine Hat in early April for a day or two then straight back to work.
Hopefully we will be heading out to the cabin and possibly I will get in some back country runs up at the summit… weather pending (fingers crossed). New pictures will be posted on flikr within the next couple days, nuptials and the typical outdoor fun will be the themes of the week.
peace

NEWS:
Mount Sima Closed for the Season
The Board of Directors for the Great Northern Ski Society are very sad to announce that the Mt. Sima ski facility will not be re-opening this season. This tough decision is in the best interest of the hill, the user groups, the staff and the public. Safety is the number one concern at the hill and the Board and staff have tried exhaustively to address many issues that would ensure the safe operation of the hill, but they are unable to finish all the work required to open, this season.
The Great Northern Ski Society is a non-profit organization and has used all of the limited resources available to try to address the variety of issues that have surfaced this year at Mt. Sima. At this point, proceeding is not practical or feasible. The lack of natural snow was the initial problem faced, and subsequent issues with the snow-making system, break-downs and equipment failure on the T-Bar compounded the challenges this year. Some of the problems have been caused by nature, while many of the maintenance issues have arisen because of a lack of consistent staffing over the years, and the limited resources available to a non-profit organization that is running a big business. This season’s issues are a culmination of a number of years’ problems, all coming to a head this season.
Mt. Sima and the Great Northern Ski Society will spend the rest of the winter doing a proper closure of the facility, addressing financial issues, and planning for a new season next year that will ensure safe equipment, staffing stability, operation/maintenance reviews, future planning, and making certain that all the partners are involved and satisfied with the way Mount Sima moves forward.
Ernie Berken, President would like to assure season pass holders and people who have bought punch cards and ski packages this season, that the Board will be looking at options for reimbursement, validating passes from this year for next, and other concerns of the membership in the next 30 days. The membership and the public will be notified as soon as all the options are reviewed and approved by the Board.
The Board is asking for patience and understanding from the community until they can properly close the facility and then have time to deal with all the financial and technical issues there are. The board would like to thank Gary McWaters, his staff, Sportslife and it’s staff, the GNSS membership, Canadian Ski Patrol System Yukon Zone, the user groups, businesses (especially our suppliers), and the Whitehorse community for their efforts and support in the past, now and in the future as Mt. Sima prepares for a new start next season. The City of Whitehorse and the Yukon Government have been involved in the discussions and decisions so far and the society is looking forward to a strong working relationship with both levels of government into the future.
Mt. Sima belongs to the community and it will take the full support of the community to see it operate successfully into the future. Please refer all inquiries to 668-4557 .

So the birthday highs have faded and we are suffering through the coldest winter I think Tammy has ever experienced. -40 as a maximum means you stay indoors, even thinking about going inside can result in a slap across the face…I was the recipient of one today. Thanks Tammy!
News from our neighbors to the east is that the GNWT apparently needs to cut their budget down $135 million in the next two years to be sustainable for the future. I hope and pray that my many YK friends will not lose their jobs due to this. I think wherever you live news like this would be devastatingly nerve wracking. Hopefully they will make their cuts quick so families don’t have to live day to day with that lingering on their backs.
Speaking of jobs, I am now officially down to one… My day job and I were not seeing eye to eye (to say it politely) so I had to break up with her . No biggie as it was a job I chose to work simply out of personal interest. I must say Tammy is happy, the past few days we have spent more time together than we had in a whole month. It has been hard for me to slow down to one job, getting more time to hang out with your bestest friend for a girl is a pretty damn good reward. So I am not complaining.
thats about it, when it is this cold things stop…hence I have no other news for you guys.
keep warm

I must say after a day like yesterday there is no reason to feel bad about being 29. I had so much fun, I think it had to be my #1 birthday so far. Tammy did a great job at planning everything out, Thank you Babes and love you so very much!
Here is how it all unfolded:
Woke up and headed out for some breaky and some frivolous shopping downtown Whitehorse
After lunch back at the house, Tammy dropped me off at Kirk’s where he Kurt and I went out for a sled ride.
Returned back to the house @ 5:30 had a shower and Tammy and I were off to meet the rest of the family for dinner.
Had a kick ass steak dinner and a fun social time, then we all went to mom and dad’s where…
Tammy had a special made coffee and chocolate (so mocha …for you coffee fanatics) flavored cheese cake!
Another short visit and Tammy and I were off to the Sam Roberts concert where we met up with some friends and had a kick ass time.
back home by 1:00 and hit the sack….HARD!!
Couple side notes,
I was quite impressed with the Sam Roberts Band. They put on a long show (2+hours) and their songs didn’t have the mellow sound that their recorded versions do, actually they rocked it out pretty well. I was hesitant to go, as I am not a big fan..but since he is Tammy’s boyfriend I could not let her down. turned out I enjoyed it just as much as she did. Bonus!
On top of a day full of fun to my surprise I also got some Birthday gifts (being so close to Christmas I do not usually expect nor want much). Here is a visual of the new additions to my tickle trunk:
Yeah so needless to say I was quite spoiled…but it is the one last time, since I will be sharing the spotlight with a little punk when I turn the BIG 3 0!!! That will be a enough of a gift in its own.
Thanks to all who phoned and emailed me birthday wishes, it was very much appreciated.

Jon: no I am not! I am only 28, I was born in 79 now its 2008 thats…. 29…years…oh….
Tammy: so what else do you want to do?
Jon: nothing, dont talk to me….I just gained two years at once.

So, Santa and I have this little thing going where I have refused accepting Chocolates as a gift and he replaced them with a box of cereal. Now, back in the day cereal was more than a meal filler for me, it was an experience…actually it was my main staple until Tammy showed up and introduced me to something called cooking;
[kooking] noun defintion: 1. preparation of food: the process or activity of preparing food for eating
2. prepared food: food that has been prepared for eating
Anyways… this year Santa brought me a box of Reese Puffs, so eating the Christmas cereal was once again an experience I wont forget.
I would just like to say, Thanks to Santa for delivering me a box of peanut butter and chocolate flavoured dog kibbles that has almost ruined my memories of past cereal goodness, not to mention breakfast as a whole.
Coal in the stocking would have gotten the point across just fine…

Hello All,
Well, the big day has passed and I hope all of you out there have had an awesome time with friends and family. Christmas in Whitehorse was pretty quiet, with no kids running around the houses the Christmas energy isn’t quite there. Funny how the little tykes can make a holiday that much better even though they are wired with excitement half the time.
My four days on just happened to land on Christmas eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and the 27th, so I was trying my best to portray the ghost of Christmas yet to come around the house rather than falling into a role of Scrooge that would impress Dickens himself .
Mom, Dad, Kirk, Shauna, Tammy and I were able to all get together for a Christmas Breakfast… one that only Shauna can make. It was a short visit but definatley made both mine and Tammy’s day . We returned back to the house and opened our gifts then I was off to bed, Tammy joined me cause she will take any excuse she can to sleep lately
From the looks of it, our New years will make up in the excitement department, as my five days off begin and everyone else has New Years eve off as well.
Just a little recap on what has been going on in the Great White North.
Hopefully all the families can get together for the 2008 holiday, it looks to be an exciting one.
